Limited Time Mode: Wild West Duos

Note: We’ve begun testing a new schedule for Limited Time Modes. Playlists will rotate every couple of days to allow a more diverse amount of modes to be available over the course of a week.

Summary
Fight for a Victory Royale using a limited set of weapons and items, such as Hunting Rifles, Shotguns, and Dynamite. This town ain’t big enough for the hundred of us!

What’s New?

  • Increased the chance for Slurp Juice to appear in Supply Drops.
  • Unvaulted the Revolver and the Double Barrel Shotgun for this mode.

Weapons + Items

  • Bottle Rockets
    • A thrown item that launches a barrage of bottle rockets to the toward the targeted direction.
    • Rarity: Uncommon
    • Found from Floor Loot, Chests, Vending Machines, Supply Llamas, and Supply Drops.
    • Drops in stacks of 2.
    • Max stack size of 6.
    • Fires 45 rockets of varying speeds randomly within a cone over roughly 9 seconds.
    • Deals 10 player and 40 environmental damage per explosion.
    • Max 2 active per player.
  • Environmental Campfires
    • Campfire props in the world can now be lit by interacting with them.
    • Behaves like the Cozy Campfire, healing 2 health per second for 25 seconds to all nearby players.
    • Each campfire can only be used once per match.
    • You can tell if a campfire has been used by whether or not you can still see wood in it.
  • Vaulted
    • BoomBox
  • Reduced the chance of receiving rocket ammo out of ammo boxes from 12% to 6%.
  • Increased the impulse strength of the Launchpad by 28.5%.
  • Reduced the chance to receive Dynamite from Chests from 7% to 5.33%.
  • Sneaky Snowman will no longer drop from Chests.
  • Chiller Grenade
    • Lowered the volume of the beep.

Events

Fortnite v7.01 Patch Notes

Just like any slow news day, Epic picks up the slack with putting out their patch notes, so here they are for Fortnite’s Battle Royale:

Battle Royale

Limited Time Mode: Close Encounters

Summary
Close quarters combat with Shotguns & Jetpacks!

Mode Details

  • The only weapons in this mode are Shotgun variants.
    • Jetpacks & Heavy Shotguns can be found in chests & Supply Drops.
    • Other Shotgun variants are spawned as floor loot.
  • The Storm moves in more quickly than normal at mid to late game.
    • Typical match length is about 15 minutes.
  • Stats are enabled for this mode.

Weapons + Items

  • Infinity Blade
    • This Mythic melee weapon can be found on Polar Peak.
    • Primary Fire delivers a powerful sword slash. It deals big damage to enemies and destroys structures in one blow (75 damage to players).
    • Alternate Fire allows the player to leap great distances, destroying objects in its path. Upon landing, it delivers damage and a knock-up to nearby players (25 damage).
    • The wielder of the sword is also granted additional abilities:
      • An increased pool of max Health and Shields (200 Health/200 Shields).
      • Regeneration of effective Health over time up to max Health and Shields (1 HP per second).
      • An instant burst of effective Health upon elimination of an enemy (50 HP).
      • Increased movement speed (130%).
    • The first player to pull the Infinity Blade from its pedestal will be instantly healed to full Health and Shields.
    • If a player picks up the Infinity Blade, all other inventory items aside from building materials will be dropped.
    • When the wielder of the Infinity Blade picks up an item (aside from building materials), the Infinity Blade will be dropped.
    • The Infinity Blade will be dropped when the wielder is knocked out or eliminated.
    • Only one Infinity Blade will appear per match.

Gameplay

  • X-4 Stormwing
    • When a plane is shot down, the driver and all passengers of that plane will now take 25 damage from the explosion.

Bug Fixes

  • Speculative fix for players moving after being eliminated.
  • Fixed players being ejected from vehicles if they lost the icy feet effect.

Battle Royale

Limited Time Mode: Team Rumble

Summary
Two large teams fight for the Victory Royale in an action-packed mode where the first team to get 100 eliminations wins!

Mode Details

  • Two teams of 20 players.
  • Players will respawn after 5 seconds when eliminated, keeping their inventory.
  • Eliminated players spawn a random type of ammo upon elimination, as well as a random stack of either 120 Wood, 90 Stone, or 60 Metal materials.
  • Only Uncommon weapons (or better) are available.
  • The first team to 100 eliminations wins.

Weapons + Items

  • New Epic and Legendary Pump Shotgun
    • 105 / 110 maximum damage
    • Available from floor loot, chests, Supply Drops, and Vending Machines.
  • Shotguns will now always apply at least 3 pellets worth of damage if only 1-2 pellets hit the target.
    • NOTE: Bonus pellets can never be critical hits.
  • Pump Shotgun maximum damage and fall-off changes.
    • Pump Shotgun maximum damage increased from 80 / 85  to 95 / 100
      • Pump shotguns will do higher damage in shorter range buckets but damage falls off quicker. This means you’ll do more damage to closer targets but less damage to farther targets.
  • Added Stink Bombs to Supply Drops
  • Removed Double Barrel Shotguns from floor loot
  • Mounted Turret
    • Adjusted Mounted Turret collision to make it easier to land shots against anyone occupying it.
    • Removed the ability to repair the Mounted Turret
    • Fixed players being able to clip into turret barrels and get stuck.
    • Supply drops will automatically open if landing on a Mounted Turret
    • Drop rate reduced from 1.719% to 0.915%

Bug Fixes

  • The Mounted Turret can no longer fire through its own floor.
  • Fixed an issue with players not having an audio cue while gliding after respawning.
  • Fixed an issue with Chiller effects not applying properly to players’ feet.

Gameplay

  • Reduced the in-air speed when using the Glider Redeploy feature in supported game modes.
  • Added functionality that allows the placement of map markers in the world without needing to go into the fullscreen map.
    • You’ll be able to look at a position in the world and use the “Place Marker” keybind to place a map marker. This command will only be available by default while in Combat Mode.
    • This command is defaulted to Left on the D-pad for controllers and the Middle Mouse button for PC and Mac.
    • For Mobile players, this command will be bound to an optional button in the HUD Layout Tool.
  • Added the ability to pick up and throw back Dynamite with a lit fuse.
    • To throw the Dynamite with a lit fuse, get near it and use the interact key.

Bug Fixes

  • Increased the Dynamite explosion height against players from 192 units to 300 units.
    • This was done to prevent players from being able to jump over the explosion area on flat ground without taking damage.

Events

  • New Tournament: Alchemist Pop-Up Cup
    • Pop-Up Cups are tournaments testing temporary, Limited Time Modes. Alchemist will continue our testing of several gameplay adjustments and may differ day to day.
    • Initial Mode Settings:
      • A material cap of 500 Wood, 500 Stone, 500 Metal
      • Harvesting Rate Increased by 40%
      • +50 Health on Eliminations
      • Storm Surge
        • If a certain amount of players are remaining by the time the Storm finishes closing, a Storm Surge will activate. This periodically deals damage to players who have the least amount of damage dealt during the match.
          • Circle 1: 60 Players Remaining
          • Circle 2: 44 Players Remaining
          • Circle 3: 30 Players Remaining
          • Circle 4: 20 Players Remaining
          • Circle 5: 16 Players Remaining
          • Circle 6: 14 Players Remaining
          • Circle 7: 12 Players Remaining
          • Circle 8: 6 Players Remaining
          • Circle 9: 2 Players Remaining
  • Your highest score or pin during any event session will now be displayed on the tournament poster in the Events tab.
  • Pins will now reflect tournament colors on the Event Details screen.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where players would receive points during warmup island which would be later removed.

Performance

  • Improvements to level streaming performance on Xbox One and Switch (improving building load times during skydiving)

Audio

  • Player in-air falling audio cue volume has been increased.
  • The Mounted Turret overheat audio loop volume has been reduced.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the Glider in-air audio cue wouldn’t play for players who glide in after respawning.

Social

Gifting
We’re excited to announce that for a limited time we’ll be offering Gifting with the release of our v6.31 update! This initial gifting period will last one week after the release of the update.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a crash on Nintendo Switch that occasionally occurred when logging in for the first time.

Limited Time Mode: Food Fight

Summary
The battle of Durrr Burger versus Pizza Pit has begun. Two teams on either side of the map. A huge barrier runs down the middle. Build a fort to protect your restaurant mascot. When the Barrier lowers, destroy the enemy’s mascot to win the match!

Mode Details

  • An impassable barrier will be spawned along the center of the map for the first several minutes.
  • Each team will have an under-construction restaurant near the center of the map. Inside is a giant mascot head representing that team.
  • If the mascot head is destroyed, that team loses the match.
  • Teams should use the time that the barrier is up to construct a defensive fortress around their restaurant.
  • As soon as the barrier lowers… fight to take out the enemy mascot before they destroy yours!
  • Special red Supply Drops spawn at the start of the match. These hold a handful of weapons, ammo, consumables, traps and a few hundred metal building materials.
  • Players will respawn after 7 seconds when eliminated, keeping their inventory.
  • Eliminated players spawn a percentage of their ammo upon elimination, as well as 30/30/60 wood/stone/metal materials.
  • 100% extra resources are gained from gathering.
  • Building resources found on the ground increased from 20 to 50 per instance.
  • No explosive weapons or items are in this mode.

Playground

Bug Fixes

  • Port-a-Challenges no longer spawn below terrain.

Weapons + Items

  • Mounted Turret added (Legendary Trap)
    • Found in Floor Loot, Supply Drops, Vending Machines, and Supply Llamas
    • Unlimited Ammo, but will overheat if fired too often.
    • Can only be placed on floors.
    • Damage the Mounted Turret by shooting it directly or by destroying structural support.
    • Once placed, can be used by any player regardless of team affiliation.
  • When a vehicle passenger uses a Grappler, the movement has been smoothed out by retaining more vehicle momentum.
  • Pickaxe damage against players has been increased from 10 to 20.

Bug Fixes

  • Balloons now have proper audio and visual effects if several are popped simultaneously.
  • Fixed an issue in which players could take damage when leaving a Quadcrasher while using Balloons.
  • Fixed Quadcrashers being movable by walking into them.

Gameplay

  • Quadcrashers spawn rate has been increased to 100% from 50%.
  • Gamepad Bindings; Changing the default gamepad config from Combat Pro to Builder Pro. Updating the default custom bindings to match Builder Pro instead of Combat Pro.
  • Emoting, bandaging, shield potion usage and other movement cancellable actions can now be used while affected by Chillers.
  • Damage numbers will now show up in the starting island.
    • Players will take damage, but not go below 1 health.
    • Local damage effects like screen shake will not play.
    • No quest progress will be gained for damage done in the warmup lobby.
  • Better handling of effects when players fire short bursts of fully automatic weapons like the Submachine Gun.
    • Tracers and firing sounds will be more consistent.
  • Added a new “Reset Camera” action on the Nintendo Switch that can be bound that brings the camera to the horizon.
    • Unbound by default.
    • This gives players with motion controls an easy way to reset their camera location.
  • The time a player is in the Down But Not Out state before being eliminated has been increased from 50 seconds to 60 seconds.

Glider Redeploy

  • We are disabling Glider Re-Deploy in all default modes starting in v6.30.
    • It will remain in the larger team modes (e.g. Soaring 50s, Disco Domination etc.) and Playground to allow ongoing experimentation with this feature.
  • Glider Redeploy will now only activate the Glider.
    • Skydiving will no longer be available when using Glider Redeploy.
      • The Skydiving state will still be activated when jumping from the Battle Bus, using Launch Pads, or any type of Rifts.
      • If Skydiving from Launch Pads or Rifts, the forced Glider deploy height has been raised from 15.5 meters to 35 meters.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where holding the Interact binding while skydiving would not automatically start opening chests upon landing.
  • Fixed an issue where players briefly continued to look like they were skydiving when landing.
  • Fixed issue where PS4 controller lighting could be the wrong color.

Events

  • New Tournament: ‘Scavenger Pop-Up Cup’ (Solo)
    • Pop-Up Cups are tournaments testing temporary limited time modes. Scavenger will test several gameplay adjustments – reduced material limit, faster material harvesting, and earning health for eliminations.
      • Material Cap: 500 Wood, 500 Brick, 500 Metal
      • Harvesting Rate has been increased by 40%
      • Players gain 50 health when eliminating an opponent.
        • If health is full, players will receive shield.
  • Players will no longer need to restart the game client to begin a tournament.
  • Scheduled times will now correctly reflect Daylight Savings Time.
  • Improved clarity for time until a tournament starts and time remaining in a tournament session.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue in Tournaments where players were not being matchmade against opponents with similar scores. This will greatly increase the difficulty of matches as players earn points.
    • Note that players with high scores during a session may experience longer matchmaking times as we search for suitable opponents.
    • After roughly 4 minutes of searching for opponents with similar scores, players will be placed in the best match available.
  • Fixed an issue where tournament scoring would sometimes require restarting the client to update.
  • Fixed an issue where Victory Royale’s would incorrectly appear as regular Placement points in the score summary.
  • Fixed an issue where players would occasionally be granted a point incorrectly at the start of match, and it would disappear after the match.
  • Fixed an issue where teammates would sometimes fail to queue into a match together.Fixed an issue where matches would start with fewer than 80 players.

Performance

  • Improved lobby performance and memory usage on Switch.
  • Optimized animation performance. Animation now operates with a fixed time budget, and will dynamically adjust quality and update rate based on load.

Audio

  • Glider and footstep audio for out of sight players is now more accurately spatialized.
  • Added hit notification audio when damaging vehicles from a distance.
  • Added ‘wind’ audio cue for players traveling through the air, including yourself.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Cube Monster footsteps did not have a visual sound indicator.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause tire bounce sounds to trigger twice.
  • Fixed an issue where looping weapon sounds would occasionally be silent.
  • Fixed an issue where jumping and landing audio for other players could fail to play reliably.

UI

  • Added an indication of already completed secrets to the Hunting Party Challenges.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the jersey number could get reset when changing the style on a sports Outfit with selectable styles.

Art + Animation

  • Updated unlock text for the pink variant of Scales to correctly state that it unlocks at Battle Pass tier 74 instead of tier 59.
  • Updated the “Herald’s Wand” harvesting tool to indicate that it is reactive.

Replay System

  • Fixed an issue where spamming the Play button on the Replay Browser would cause an error.
  • Fixed an issue where the close button would become inactive when loading out of date replays.

  • Honk button added to extra buttons in the HUD Layout Tool for all your vehicular honking needs.
  • Elimination feed can now be relocated in the HUD Layout Tool.
  • The auto-pickup weapons and auto-open doors options will now be defaulted to off for new players.
  • App icon now fills to the edge on newer Android versions.
  • UI now accounts for the notches in the display of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.
  • Enabled shader cache on the Pixel2XL to address memory issues.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the crouch button would not be visible in build/edit modes.
  • Fixed a bug causing persistent movement input when dragging over the quick bar.
  • Fixed a bug causing sprint to not work on mobile for some players.

Fortnite v6.22 Patch Notes

Another week, another patch for Fortnite.  They just announced a partnership with NFL as well, so look forward to being able to wear your favorite team’s jersey and customize the number. You can find the complete patch notes here. Below are the changes to Battle Royale Mode:

Limited Time Mode: Team Terror

Summary
Monsters have invaded the Battle Royale island! Two teams will battle it out as Cube Monsters join the fight. Defeat the other team to earn a Victory Royale.

Mode Details

  • Two teams of 32 players. Eliminate the other team to win.
  • Monster spawners are scattered throughout the map and also appear each time the storm closes in to a new circle.
  • Monsters can drop weapons or ammo when destroyed. Gold monsters and monster spawners drop Legendary items when destroyed.
  • Farming resources increased 75% over default.
  • Increased floor loot spawn likelihood by 15%.
  • Floor loot spawns double ammo.
  • Ammo boxes spawn triple ammo.
  • Chests spawn double ammo & consumables.
  • Supply drops spawn double ammo, and an extra consumable, resource drop and trap.

Limited Time Mode: Blitz!

Summary
Blitz is a faster-paced version of Battle Royale. The match begins with the storm moving towards the island, and the delay between each circle is shorter than normal, creating matches that are 15 minutes long or less. The map also has extra loot and resources. Profile Stats count in this mode, so fight hard for the Victory Royale!

Mode Details

  • The storm is already moving in at the beginning of the match, choose your landing spot carefully!
  • Wait time between storms is significantly shorter than usual; maximum match length is 15 minutes.
  • Increased chances of treasure chests spawning from 50-70% to 80-90%.
  • Increased chances of ammo boxes spawning from 65-80% to 85-95%.
  • Reduced empty floor loot spawn chance from 21.5% to 3.55%
  • Resource harvesting amounts increased by 50%.
  • Increased materials found on the ground from 20 to 60 per instance.
  • Increased number, spawn rate & the descent speed of Supply Drops.
  • Increased number of llamas spawned by 4x.
  • Removed shopping carts.

Weapons + Items

  • Heavy Assault Rifle
    • Can be found in floor loot, chests, Vending Machines, and Supply Drops
    • Available in Rare, Epic and Legendary Variants
      • Deals 44 / 46 / 48 damage
      • 3.75 Fire Rate
      • Has a magazine size of 25
    • Update 11/6 – We’ve made the following balance adjustments to the Heavy AR shortly after its release
      • Increased accuracy by 20%
      • Decreased recoil by 20%
  • The Pumpkin Launcher has been reverted back to the standard Rocket Launcher.
  • We’ve reduced the spawn rate of Balloons from 12.2% to 2.3%.

Gameplay

  • Storm max damage cap changed back from 8 damage to 10 damage.

Bug Fixes

  • Players hit by a Boogie Bomb while holding Balloons will no longer have physics issues. They will now properly drop the Balloons.

Fortnite v6.20 Patch Notes

Long live getting fall kills.  They’re now testing a feature where gliders can be re-deployed over 10m high, similar to the Soaring 50’s Mode earlier this year. Read more below, courtesy of Epic:

Limited Time Event: Fortnitemares

Summary
The Cube strikes back, bringing Fortnitemares to Battle Royale! Drop in and discover what the Cube has unleashed.

What’s New?

  • Cube Fragments spawn Cube Monsters! Drop in and discover the different types.
    • Large Cube Fragments are found near corrupted areas of the island.
    • Small Cube Fragments are created randomly throughout the match.
  • Cube Fiends, Brutes, and Fragments all have a chance to drop loot.
  • Defeating a Cube Fiend or Brute will grant a small amount of shield.
    • Eliminating a Cube Fiend will grant +3 shield
    • Eliminating an Elite Cube Fiend will grant +5 shield
    • Eliminating a Cube Brute will grant +10 shield
    • Eliminating an Elite Cube Brute will grant +15 shield
    • Eliminating a Mega Cube Brute will grant +20 shield
  • Fiend Hunter Crossbow added. Fortnitemare Limited time weapon.
    • Available in Epic variant.
      • 40 base damage
      • 1.8 shots per second.
      • 4x damage against Fiends

Playground

New Port-A grenades are now available in Vending Machines at the southern edge of Loot Lake. The Port-A-Challenge set includes the Building Challenge, Obstacle Course, and Firing Range minigames. There’s four of each type with varying difficulty.

The Spiky Stadium makes a return with a brand new respawn system and Vending Machines to provide all the necessary grenades. Finally, there’s the Port-A-Pirateship mini-game. This grenade spawns a re-creation of the minigame shown off by SXVXN!

      • Collect the tokens and avoid the obstacles while honing your building skills.
    • Building Challenge
      • Build the structure as fast as possible.

      • Take out as many dummies as you can within the time limit.

    • Once inside the new Spiky Stadium, players will respawn at designated spawn points inside the playspace.
    • Vending machines provide grenades and Traps to allow you to customize your play.
  • Port-A-Pirateship
    • A re-creation of the minigame shown off by SXVXN.
    • Spawns two large wooden Pirate ships.
    • The minigame will split players into two teams, with the goal of destroying the other team’s ship.
  • Port-A-Pirateship Ironclad Edition
    • Spawns two large metal Pirate ships.
    • Grenades and Rockets are provided for maximum destruction
  • New Vending Machines have been added across the map to provide more Traps and weapons.
  • A new respawn button has been added to the in-game player menu.

Gameplay

  • The Glider Redeploy functionality that’s available in the Soaring Limited Time Modes can now be used in all game modes. Help us test this feature and let us know what you think.
    • When in mid-air and greater than 10m up, press Jump to deploy your glider.
  • Weapons now reload upon respawn in modes that keep the player’s inventory.
  • Storm Changes
    • Wait time for phase 3 has been reduced from 120 seconds to 90 seconds.
    • Wait time for phase 5 has been reduced from 70 seconds to 50 seconds.
    • Late game moving circles will now immediately begin traveling to a new location after it reaches its current destination.
    • Storm’s maximum damage has been reduced from 10 to 8.
    • The final circle now moves and shrinks at the same time.
  • Players will now take 2 damage per second while in the Down But Not Out state instead of 2 damage every 2 seconds.
    • Maximum time in the DBNO state reduced from 100 seconds to 50 seconds if no friendly player attempts to revive you.

Bug Fixes

  • Removing ability to rocket ride Quad Launcher rockets.
    • Fixes streaming issues on low-end iOS devices.

Audio

  • Added unique sounds when cycling through Traps.
  • Removed the in-air audio cue for Gliders that belong to friendly teammates.
  • Reduced volume of Dark Viking glider.

UI

  • Your name now always appears at the top of your squad list in-game.

Bug Fixes

  • When a Challenge bundle is delayed, it will now display as “Coming Soon” rather than “Unlocking in 0 seconds.”
  • Chain quests in the Challenge bundles now show the current quest number in the chain over the total number of quests in the chain.
    • Example: 1/2, 2/3, etc.

Art + Animation

  • New variants added to the Musha and Hime Outfits that are part of the Bushido set.
    • No Challenges are needed to unlock these variants. If you own the Outfits they will be automatically unlocked.

Bug Fixes

  • Pets no longer get stuck floating in the air after their owner drives a vehicle off a jump.
  • Fixed Quadcrasher Jump Trick animation displays.
  • Changes in other players’ aim and view directions are now smoother, both in-game and during replays.

Mobile

  • Better handling of larger memory Android devices (6 GB+)
  • Custom HUD Layout users can now toggle the visibility of buttons across Combat/Build modes.
    • Red – Hidden
    • Green – Visible
    • Blue – Does not affect visibility
    • Buttons will only be shown when they are relevant to the player, even when set to “visible”.
      • Example: Buttons shown while holding a weapon will only be shown on screen while a weapon is being held.
  • The Combat/Build quickbar is now resizeable within Custom HUD Layout.
    • This includes extra buttons.
  • Players can now edit structures while in combat mode while holding any weapon.

Bug Fixes

  • The first weapon picked now properly equips automatically.

Limited Time Mode: Disco Domination

Summary
It’s time for the ultimate dance-off. Dance Floors have spawned around the Battle Royale island. Take them over by clearing out any enemies and then dancing to raise a disco ball up from the floor. The team that fills their meter the fastest by capturing and defending the dance floors will win the match!

What’s New?

  • Reduced all bandage spawns by 50%.
  • Removed all Common weapons.
  • increased the variability of where you can spawn by 30% along your sides storm circle.
  • Brought in the side dance floors closer to the Storm edge.
  • Reduced max respawn distance by 20%.

Weapons + Items

  • The Port-a-Fortress has been disabled as we work to resolve some issues related to this item.
    • Drop rate for Port-a-Fort increased from 3.05% to 4.89% while Port-a-Fortress is disabled.
      • The goal is to keep the drop rate of Port-a-Fort the same as if both items were enabled to help with the completion of Challenges.

Bug Fixes

  • Guided Missile no longer fires the wrong direction
  • Players will no longer permanently attach to a Supply Drop when grappling to it.
  • Attempting to fire while reloading the Double Barrel Shotgun will no longer interrupt the animation.
  • Weapon equip animations no longer skip when simultaneously attempting to sprint and target.

Gameplay

  • Quadcrasher
    • Seats two players.
    • You build boost just by driving. Unleash that speed with the hotkey once you’ve filled your boost meter.
    • Smash through buildings while boosting.
    • Boost off ramps or cliffs to catch sick air.
    • Launch players into the air by smashing into them.
  • You can now view and change Edit Controls separately from Combat and Build Controls in the controller menu.
  • PS4 controller lighting will match player marker color.
  • You can now set building mode sensitivity for controllers in the options menu. It is a multiplier on the default controller sensitivity and allows up to a 2x increase.
  • Controller sensitivity slider in the options menu now allows for more than 10 values.
  • Added an option to Builder Pro that allows for building as soon as you switch to the piece, instead of selecting first and then placing. This allows for faster building without a preview.
  • Added an option that allows for edit hold timing to be adjusted.
  • Opening the Emote Picker with a controller will happen when the button is released, while holding the button will replay the emote that was last played.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed inconsistencies with the damage trap not triggering properly.
  • Allow slight movement when using a consumable with Sprint by Default enabled. This will help match how it works without Sprint by Default enabled
  • Fixed problem with character orientation getting stuck after falling off the island in a vehicle.
  • Glider Redeploy now functions properly in game modes that support this feature.
    • This will solve the issue that was causing the deploy prompt to not appear as well as preventing players from deploying their glider when jumping from a sufficient height.

Events

  • Tournaments can be found inside of the new ‘Events’ tab available in game.  This tab will host a variety of online competitions which are open to everyone.  Jump in and explore!
    • Each tournament has a series of scheduled dates and times that the competition will be run. A carousel of all upcoming competitions and times will be available for browsing, so you can plan and practice.
    • Every scheduled session is a completely clean slate with all players starting on an equal footing at the beginning of play.
    • Compete over the course of several hours to earn points by eliminating multiple opponents or surviving against the competition.
    • Players are matched against opponents with similar scores during the session.
    • Score enough points during any scheduled event session and you’ll earn a golden pin for that tournament!

Performance

  • Weapon replication optimization for dedicated server to reduce load during rapid weapon switching.
  • We’ve made CPU performance optimizations on Switch across all threads. This results in a smoother gameplay experience and fewer hitches.
  • Improve multi-threading during heavy physics simulation.

Audio

  • Celebrate with style. The music selected in your Locker will now play after getting a Victory Royale!
  • Remove the Doppler effect from the audio when players are gliding.
  • Added an in-air loop to Grenade Launcher projectiles so you can spatialize where they’re coming from.
  • Improved Grenade Launcher bouncing audio.
  • Reduced volume of medium-range Grenade explosion sound.

Bug Fixes

  • Cube ambient sounds no longer randomly play in the middle of matches.
  • Sequential explosion sounds no longer interrupt each other.
  • Added missing audio to the Compact SMG and SMG medium/distant fire sounds.
  • Audio ‘pops’ no longer occur when emote music loops.
  • Re-added the audio cue that plays before a new wave of Supply Drops start appearing.

UI

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed some touch issues for the controller mapping screen on Switch.
  • Fixed a bug where the player’s banner in the top bar would not update when changing the banner in the locker.
  • Made the reticle hidden when skydiving.
  • Fixed issues with the display of the on-screen map and inventory inputs.
  • Fixed issues with touch functionality on the map for the Nintendo Switch
  • Resource buttons no longer cancel auto-run.

Art + Animation

Bug Fixes

  • Cosmetic items that change in some way over the course of a match are now marked as “Reactive” in-game (e.g., a harvesting tool that changes as you get eliminations).
  • Fixed visual display issues with cosmetic music items..
  • Animation pops no longer occur while in the air after using the Chiller trap.

Replay System

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue causing the first replay not be selected in the replay browser.
  • Fixed the nameplate distance slider not working.
  • Fixed an issue where firing guided missiles would start with the camera facing the wrong way in replays.

Mobile

  • Major performance improvement for devices running Android 7 or earlier.
  • Memory improvements on iOS devices.
  • The first weapon you pick up will now auto-equip itself on mobile.
  • Touch control input now has smoothing enabled.
  • Tapping selected buttons on the build quickbar will once again build the selected build piece.
  • All elements in the Mobile HUD should now be placeable/movable in the HUD Layout Tool.
  • Updated visuals for independent Quickbar slots in the HUD Layout Tool.

Bug Fixes

  • Drag and dropping on the Quickbar will no longer select the thing you drag. Players can now adjust their inventory without interrupting other actions.
  • Fixing a bug causing some touch input to fall through the settings screen to gameplay.
  • Fixing edit button visibility issues when crouching on Mobile.

GENERAL
PERFORMANCE

We addressed a disk performance issue on Xbox One which was causing buildings and cosmetics to load in slowly. This will also reduce load times.
Please note: This fix will result in a larger patch download than usual (around 10GB).

BATTLE ROYALE

LIMITED TIME MODE: DISCO DOMINATION

Summary

It’s time for the ultimate dance-off. Dance Floors have spawned around the Battle Royale island. Take them over by clearing out any enemies and then dancing to raise a disco ball up from the floor. The team that fills their meter the fastest by capturing and defending the dance floors will win the match!

Mode Details

Two teams battle it out!
Respawning will be turned on until the third (last) storm circle.
Five dance floors will appear on the map whenever the storm is not moving.
Emoting on a dance floor when no enemies are present will raise a disco ball in the center of the floor, and capture it for your team.
The more friendly players dancing on a floor, the faster it will be captured.
Once a floor is captured, it will begin filling the team’s “dance bar” on the HUD, until either an enemy stands on it or the current storm timer ends and the storm begins to move. The first team to fill their dance bar to 100% will win the match.
The dance floors in the later stages of the match fill the bar more quickly, so don’t give up if your team is behind!
It is not possible to build on or over the dance floors, but they can be protected by surrounding them with a fort.
Glider redeploy is activated in this mode, press jump while falling to use your glider.
This mode uses 50v50 levels of loot and resources.

WEAPONS + ITEMS

Quad Launcher
Fire up to four lobbed rockets in quick succession.
Available in Epic and Legendary variants.
80/84 base damage per rocket.
300 unit explosion radius.
Can be found in chests, Supply Drops, and Vending Machines.

The Port-a-Fortress has returned and can be looted in-game.
Port-a-Fortress availability lowered from 2.43% to 1.83%.

Loot drop rate adjustments

Decreased common Pistol drop chance from 5.8% to 5.47%
Increased Epic Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle drop chance from 0.33% to 0.42%
Decreased Rare Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle drop chance from 0.92% to 0.71%
Increased Epic Heavy Sniper Rifle drop chance from 0.33% to 0.4%
Increased Legendary Heavy Sniper Rifle drop chance from 0.07% to 0.13%

Note: The overall number of Explosive Weapons and Snipers in a given game has not changed, however, there is a greater distribution of rarity and variants.

GAMEPLAY

Bug Fixes

Removed a change that was inadvertently introduced in v6.01 which caused Bonesy to bark more than was intended.
Fixed an issue that caused moving circles to be closer to the previous safe zone than intended.

PERFORMANCE

Fixed some hitches on Switch caused by blocking loads of UI data.
Increased the texture pool size on Xbox One, which should avoid some issues with blurry textures and improve rendering performance.

ART+ANIMATION

Skull Trooper styles have a visual issue when viewing the Outfit from the Locker.
The Outfit still appears properly in-game.
This issue will be fixed next patch.
