Two large teams fight for the Victory Royale in an action-packed mode where the first team to get 100 eliminations wins!

Mode Details

  • Two teams of 20 players.
  • Players will respawn after 5 seconds when eliminated, keeping their inventory.
  • Eliminated players spawn a random type of ammo upon elimination, as well as a random stack of either 120 Wood, 90 Stone, or 60 Metal materials.
  • Only Uncommon weapons (or better) are available.
  • The first team to 100 eliminations wins.

Weapons + Items

  • New Epic and Legendary Pump Shotgun
    • 105 / 110 maximum damage

  • Pump Shotgun maximum damage and fall-off changes.
    • Pump Shotgun maximum damage increased from 80 / 85  to 95 / 100

    • For Mobile players, this command will be bound to an optional button in the HUD Layout Tool.

    • To throw the Dynamite with a lit fuse, get near it and use the interact key.

    • This was done to prevent players from being able to jump over the explosion area on flat ground without taking damage.

Video Game Releases: 10/30-11/5

Unfortunately, not many developers want to release a game right after a major release such as Red Dead 2.  This week’s list will be really short and sweet. While The Quiet Man had an awesome trailer at E3, I’m excited to see what it actually is.

Oct. 30:

  • Call of Cthulhu (Xbox, PS4, PC)

Nov 1:

  • The Quiet Man (PS4, PC)

Nov 2:

  • Football Manager 2019 (PC)
  • Diablo III : Eternal Edition (Switch)

Fallout 76 B.E.T.A Review

As a big Bethesda fan, when they announced Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), I pre-ordered right away. What I got when it released was a 10 min. play time before the servers went down.  I checked in with it every day that week and found it was very spotty if I’d get in and a lot of lag if I did get in.  They have greatly improved that game to where it’s enjoyable now, but its reputation was really damaged from the start.  So saying that, when I pre-ordered Fallout 76, I expected the beta to act like the launch of ESO.  To my surprise, I was drastically wrong.

The website announced the beta would open at 7 PM EDT last night.  Eagerly, I texted my friend to hop on early to make sure we both got in before the servers got full.  I loaded up the game a good 10 minutes before the start to get to the front of the line.  What I saw was that there was no line and I got to play an extra few minutes early.  The game was already off to a good start.

After I created my character, it walks you through a mini-tutorial quest as you exit the vault.  There are plenty of things you can pick up along the way, such as holo tapes, apparel, etc.  Once I got out, I was able to join up with my friend in his server and we explored the world together.  Everything loaded fine and didn’t have many issues.

Some of the issues that came up as we played ranged from minimal to game-breaking.  The minor issues were things such as we couldn’t find stuff like our photo gallery and challenges.  To do this, we eventually found that you have to press the start, then LB to access another menu through the map.  Previous installments of Fallout had the map coming from the Pip-Boy, so the change threw us off a little.  Luckily, I played with my friend, so we were able to find stuff quicker working as a team.

Mid-tier problems I found was that the game would freeze completely for a few seconds and then resume regularly.  It is most likely happening from trying to render in so many objects, so it’ll probably be patched quickly.  Certain freezes left my character getting injured more than needed.

The only glitch that my friend and I ran into that forced a restart happened to my friend and I merely watched.  What happened was that we explored into a new area and my friend was unable to load any textures except for trees. There just so happened to be two other players that started to attack us at the same time.  As we ran, I watched my friend phase through objects like a ghost.  I eventually got killed by a player and my friend tested the trees to see if they would protect him.  It turns out the trees were hollow for him and also protected him which was great.  However, we had a quest in a house that he was unable to get because he couldn’t walk up stairs.  He ended up going to the home screen on Xbox and manually killing the game and reloading it.  Within minutes he was back in and issue-free. I still can’t believe he got back in that quick.

Other than those little issues that will most likely be fixed by launch. We enjoyed it for what it was.  There was plenty of customization options with character and building.  The ability to find blueprints and mod weapons was a great thing to have people exploring more.  I know people liked Fallout for the single player experience, but having a friend in the game made quests a lot easier to complete and get rewards.  It was one of the first games in a while where I lost track of time.  Before I knew it, it was 11 PM and closing time.  Now I can’t wait for the final product to be released.

Fortnite Battle Royale v6.10 Patch Notes

Another week, another set of patch notes courteous of Epic Games.

See below to see what 6.10 added to the game:

Limited Time Mode: Disco Domination

It’s time for the ultimate dance-off. Dance Floors have spawned around the Battle Royale island. Take them over by clearing out any enemies and then dancing to raise a disco ball up from the floor. The team that fills their meter the fastest by capturing and defending the dance floors will win the match!

What’s New?

  • Reduced all bandage spawns by 50%.
  • Removed all Common weapons.
  • increased the variability of where you can spawn by 30% along your sides storm circle.
  • Brought in the side dance floors closer to the Storm edge.
  • Reduced max respawn distance by 20%.

Weapons + Items

  • The Port-a-Fortress has been disabled as we work to resolve some issues related to this item.
    • Drop rate for Port-a-Fort increased from 3.05% to 4.89% while Port-a-Fortress is disabled.
      • The goal is to keep the drop rate of Port-a-Fort the same as if both items were enabled to help with the completion of Challenges.

Bug Fixes

  • Guided Missile no longer fires the wrong direction
  • Players will no longer permanently attach to a Supply Drop when grappling to it.
  • Attempting to fire while reloading the Double Barrel Shotgun will no longer interrupt the animation.
  • Weapon equip animations no longer skip when simultaneously attempting to sprint and target.

  • Quadcrasher
    • Seats two players.
    • You build boost just by driving. Unleash that speed with the hotkey once you’ve filled your boost meter.
    • Smash through buildings while boosting.
    • Boost off ramps or cliffs to catch sick air.
    • Launch players into the air by smashing into them.
  • You can now view and change Edit Controls separately from Combat and Build Controls in the controller menu.
  • PS4 controller lighting will match player marker color.
  • You can now set building mode sensitivity for controllers in the options menu. It is a multiplier on the default controller sensitivity and allows up to a 2x increase.
  • Controller sensitivity slider in the options menu now allows for more than 10 values.
  • Added an option to Builder Pro that allows for building as soon as you switch to the piece, instead of selecting first and then placing. This allows for faster building without a preview.
  • Added an option that allows for edit hold timing to be adjusted.
  • Opening the Emote Picker with a controller will happen when the button is released, while holding the button will replay the emote that was last played.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed inconsistencies with the damage trap not triggering properly.
  • Allow slight movement when using a consumable with Sprint by Default enabled. This will help match how it works without Sprint by Default enabled
  • Fixed problem with character orientation getting stuck after falling off the island in a vehicle.
  • Glider Redeploy now functions properly in game modes that support this feature.
    • This will solve the issue that was causing the deploy prompt to not appear as well as preventing players from deploying their glider when jumping from a sufficient height.

  • Tournaments can be found inside of the new ‘Events’ tab available in game.  This tab will host a variety of online competitions which are open to everyone.  Jump in and explore!
    • Each tournament has a series of scheduled dates and times that the competition will be run. A carousel of all upcoming competitions and times will be available for browsing, so you can plan and practice.
    • Every scheduled session is a completely clean slate with all players starting on an equal footing at the beginning of play.
    • Compete over the course of several hours to earn points by eliminating multiple opponents or surviving against the competition.
    • Players are matched against opponents with similar scores during the session.
    • Score enough points during any scheduled event session and you’ll earn a golden pin for that tournament!

  • Weapon replication optimization for dedicated server to reduce load during rapid weapon switching.
  • We’ve made CPU performance optimizations on Switch across all threads. This results in a smoother gameplay experience and fewer hitches.
  • Improve multi-threading during heavy physics simulation.

  • Celebrate with style. The music selected in your Locker will now play after getting a Victory Royale!
  • Remove the Doppler effect from the audio when players are gliding.

Multiple Companies Hit With Unexpected Downtime

Yesterday (10/16), Sony was the first to take the hit followed by YouTube. Around 5 PM EST, the PlayStation Network went down. This outage affected the whole network and wasn’t limited to just certain features, such as communications, store purchases, etc.  PS Gamers found themselves to be able to access nothing but their offline data.  By 9 PM EST, Users were reporting that they were able to get back online and play.

While Sony is a large network, the security needs to be stepped up.  Over the past few years, the PSN (PlayStation Network) has been affected by outages and caused personal information to be stolen multiple times.  One attack in 2011 left the PSN down for months.  While Sony hasn’t announced what caused the outage, many speculate it came from people clicking on spam messages causing an infinite loop and crashing the system.

The other unknown outage came from an unlikely app.  YouTube went down around 9:40 PM EST.  Users who went to watch videos and content at this time were greeted by a TV screen with static that announced users would be unable to access their videos at that moment.  YouTube was back up within an hour of the outage.

Tech Companies are notorious for pushing updates on a Tuesday and releasing lots of new games and features on the same day as well.  These outages could be a byproduct of an update that wasn’t tested in ways they thought.  Apple users saw this through the Twitter App with numbers appearing on their notifications instead of the content of the message.  Twitter announced why their problem arose yesterday, but neither YouTube nor Sony announced why they went down.

App of the Week: WinView Games

Over the weekend, an ad popped up for betting on a football game.  This ad was for a company called WinView Games.  It is an app that allows anybody over the age of 18 to place bets on many different sporting events in the US.  It allows users to be able to bet with fake points or use real money.

See the source image

While sports gambling is still a controversial subject in the US, many other countries around the world have already adopted this idea.  Apps like these allow quick bets to be made, which may be harmful to those with an addictive personality or gambling issues.  Because it gambles with real money, you cannot find this app on the Google Play Store or Apple Marketplace.  Instead, you must go to their website and download it yourself.

While it has some setbacks, such as you can only gamble on one game at a time, it has many perks.  The first is the ability to earn money without spending a penny.  I gambled with points for a football in a global pool and ended up placing in the top 16, earning me $1.00.  While it may not be much, it’s more than I started with.

The live updating with bets is also very nice and fast.  They give the opportunity to make more bets to earn more and can keep you up to date if you aren’t actually watching the game.

Being able to connect through Facebook is a great feature, even though Facebook hasn’t had the best month.  While you might have to worry about security issues taking place, it makes it easy to invite friends and have your own league.

Be sure to check out WinView Games and give them a try. And Gamble Responsibly.
