Sony Announces New Console
Big news dropped from Sony late last night.
During a press release from Sony, they announced a classic console release that have fans excited to relive their past. The PlayStation Classic was announced for a Dec 3rd, 2018 release date. This console is said to be 45% smaller than the original console. This is good news for the console collectors that are running low on space in their house.
While the packaging and controllers are to draw nostalgia from the customer, the console has been updated to fit modern standards. The AV cables have been changed over to the HDMI cable for better video and audio quality. The other big change is that games will come preloaded onto the console instead of relying on physical discs. This change allows quicker load times and guarantees classic games will be available to customers. As PS1 games have been discontinued, the only way to play these classics in the past was from retro game stores or buying them online, both for an increased price.
Of the 20 preloaded games that will be on the console at launch, the ones announced so far are Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. Wanting to play co-op, the console will be shipping with two controllers, so no need to panic.
PlayStation Classic will be available for $99.99 USD (MSRP) / $129.99 CAN (MSRP) on Dec 3rd, 2018.
