The last week of game releases before Christmas is here. PlayStation is getting the new Warhammer game finally after being on Xbox and PC for a couple of months. But other than that, Xbox and PlayStation have no big releases. Nintendo is upping their game with a lot of titles this week, although they are not big name releases. See this list below:
If you ever wanted to see a community throw a tantrum at a company, but still use their product, welcome to YouTube.
Every year, YouTube does a Rewind video where they focus on big events that happened on their platform during the year. In the past, the Rewinds featured the Top 10 most viewed videos that were connected through a narration. Lately, it appears YouTube wants to make an extended commercial for their platform instead of giving credit to it content creators.
T-Series and PewDiePie have been at a mini war for subscribers recently. Logan Paul filmed a dead body. Big names like H3 and Shane Dawson had major videos this year as well. None of this was featured in the 2018 Rewind.
Because YouTube continues to not address issues that happened, they received a lot of dislikes for this video. Justin Bieber faced almost 11 million dislikes for “Baby”. Rebecca Brown faced a lot as well before taking it off YouTube. This YouTube Rewind is already at 13 million dislikes with only 2.3 likes. While a big part is due to not addressing actual trends, they also promoted it heavily on people’s feeds.
While some of the trends did happen, such as Fortnite, they missed a large portion of their users with this video.
Finally a week with so much good music, it’s hard to narrow it down to a Top 5 list. Check out below some songs you need to listen to this week:
Quinn XCII and Noah Kahan are back singing the uplifting blues. “Tough” has very good lyrics that makes you think in ways you might not have before. Crying into muscle tissue is something that seems so obvious, but I never have thought of it before. Very casual song to listen to while in deep thoughts.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse has a fire album. This one is called “Home” by Vince Staples and Richie Kohan. Very tropical and funky beat with it. Some of the audio effects are ones not used often. It’s nice to see the experimentation going on in this song.
Another one coming from the new Spider-Man movie. This one is Called “Scared of the Dark” and features Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla $ign and XXXTENTACION. It starts off a little slow, but builds momentum with the verses. Probably a better single than most of Lil Wayne’s recent album.
T-Pain is back making club bangers. This time it’s called “That’s Yo Money”. Similar vibe to Cardi B’s message of take what’s yours. The bass alone will destroy some speakers though.
Lastly we have “Placebo” by Devin Dawson. It has a nice country-pop sound to it giving the same talk about love might just be a placebo. It’s not overpowering with the amount of intruments used in it either. Devin Dawson is an upcoming artist who used to cover Taylor Swift on YouTube.
Get your friends a gift they actually want this year. Here’s a recipe for a mixed drink that you can gift away and only takes 15 mins. to make.
In a blender, combine heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, Irish whiskey, instant coffee, chocolate syrup, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Blend on high for 20 to 30 seconds. Store in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator. Shake well before serving.
Apparently, living in a trash can doesn’t count as homeless anymore.
A neon pink puppet named Lily will be the first ever homeless character featured in Sesame Street. Her first appearance was in a 2011 episode where she talked about her family not having enough to eat.
Apparently, Lily’s life got worse over the past 7 years. She explains that she is now living with some friends because she has no home of her own anymore.
Sesame Workshop put out their reasoning for this character in their press release:
“The rate of young children who do not have a permanent place to live has been steadily growing. More than 2.5 million children are experiencing homelessness nationwide—and nearly half of those children, 1.2 million, are under the age of six. According to the Office of Head Start, there has been a 100 percent increase in enrollment of children experiencing homelessness in Head Start and Early Head Start programs over the past decade, with 2016-17 marking a record number.”
With the addition of this character, hopefully kids will be able to relate to the character or show more sympathy to other children that face similar issues.
Earlier this week, Steph Curry appeared on Vince Carter’s podcast called “Winging It“. It’s a podcast where famous basketball players get together and talk about random subjects. One of the topics that came up was if we ever landed on the moon. Amazingly, they all agreed that we’ve never been there. Curry even implied that the government was covering up the past.
While they all agreed they thought it was staged, Curry is taking most of the heat. He is being covered all over because of his ideas. Astronaut Scott Kelly, who recently got back from his 520 days in space, even chimed in on Twitter.
It will be interesting to see how Curry will respond to all the people poking fun at him. The Warriors are also not having one of their better starts and have internal team drama, so Curry is having an exciting year it looks like.
It’s a sad week for Xbox One fans. The big title games this week are coming to all platforms but Xbox One. Although PS4’s big release is Borderlands 2 VR, which is basically the same game that was released 5 years ago. It’ll still be fun to replay through the missions again. See the full list below:
