FedEx decided to be a little greedy this holiday season. With a good day on the stock market, FedEx is trying to keep the money flowing their way. Their website has just put up that shipping rates will increase starting Jan 7th, 2019. The percentage change is averaging to a 4.9% increase across the board.
While this number is pretty consistent with the previous years, some people are still a little mad at FedEx. The reason why companies increase costs every year is due to inflation. US inflation is projected to be around 2.3% in 2019. This means FedEx will gain a larger margin.
We will see in January if this was a smart move to increase costs higher than the national inflation rate. Maybe 2019 will be the year of UPS?
